Dear John,
The month of May is filled with many wonderful feasts on the Church calendar: the Ascension of the Lord, the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, and a new feast that celebrates Mary as the Mother of the Church.
Over the past year, we have been creating online resources that answer questions about the feasts and seasons of the Church, each including a special eBook that you can download for free.
The Solemnity of Pentecost, which celebrates the descent of the Holy Spirit, is May 23 this year. EWTN’s Pentecost page features a special eBook, The Seven Gifts of the Holy Spirit, with the Novena in honor of the Paraclete.
This is the Church’s oldest Novena, and it was first made at the direction of Our Lord Himself when He sent His apostles back to Jerusalem to await the coming of the Holy Spirit on the first Pentecost. It is still the only Novena officially prescribed by the Church. Addressed to the Third Person of the Blessed Trinity, it is a powerful plea for the light and strength and love so sorely needed by every Christian.
To read more about the Solemnity of Pentecost and to receive this free eBook, The Seven Gifts of the Holy Spirit, please visit ewtn.com/pentecost. Make sure to sign-up soon because the Novena begins this Friday, May 14.
We hope that this resource will help to strengthen your love for the Third Person of the Blessed Trinity, the Holy Spirit.
Sincerely In Christ,
Your EWTN Family
