Prophecy Thread of Week 46

Noah Webster's 1828 Dictionary Definition of Truth:
Conformity to fact or reality; exact accordance with that which is, or has been, or shall be. The truth of history constitutes its whole value. We rely on the truth of the scriptural prophecies.

ISRAEL WILL RETURN TO THE PROMISED LAND AFTER SEVENTY YEARS

This prophecy is one of the clearest in all history because it is mathematically verifiable. From the time of the initial exile to the return to Jerusalem is seventy years. God is faithful to keep His word. He shows us time after time of His faithfulness in prophecy. We can be assured that the glorious future He has promised believers will come to pass, just as He promised.

PROMISED

A LETTER TO EXILES IN BABYLON

599 BC (U)

Jer 29:10 This is what the LORD says: “When seventy years are completed for Babylon, I will come to you and fulfill my good promise to bring you back to this place.

Jer 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

FULFILLED

CYRUS’ REIGN BEGINS – CYRUS HELPS THE EXILES TO RETURN

536 BC, 537 BC (U)

2Ch 36:23 “This is what Cyrus king of Persia says: “ ‘The LORD, the God of heaven, has given me all the kingdoms of the earth and he has appointed me to build a temple for him at Jerusalem in Judah. Any of his people among you may go up, and may the LORD their God be with them.’ ”

Prophecies declared are in blue, prophecies fulfilled are in red, prophecies currently being fulfilled are in green, and prophecies to be fulfilled are in orange. Bold historical context dates are from Jeff Swanson's The Plan dating system, and dates marked (U) are Archbishop Ussher's 1658 dating system.
** The date of this prophecy is in its referential context: the verse has been moved to the time frame of its contextual orientation.
