The power of the portal

Remember when Brian Kelly vowed that LSU would be "very aggressive" in the transfer portal.

LSU has been very aggressive in the transfer portal.

The Tigers are up to seven signed/committed players since the cycle opened. The latest need-filling additions: Virginia Tech cornerback Mansoor Delane and Florida edge rusher Jack Pyburn.

According to 247Sports.com, LSU currently has the top-ranked transfer portal class. There is still a long way to go, however, with the Tigers expected to sign at least five more transfers, possibly more.

Check out all of LSU's transfer portal comings and goings with our tracker, which is updated daily.

For a lot of people Kelly still isn't their cup of tea. But Kelly's commitment to match $1 million in donations to LSU's collective is testament to his commitment to winning, as I write in my column.

Turning to non-football news, LSU women's basketball is quickly back in action Tuesday against Seton Hall in Uncasville, Connecticut, after a sluggish 85-57 win Sunday over UL-Lafayette. And LSU's reigning NCAA gymnastics champions held their annual Gymnastics 101 exhibition Monday night with mixed results in the eyes of coach Jay Clark. We've also got a photo gallery from the meet right here.

That's all for now, folks. Click on those story links then get out there and finish that holiday shopping.

Not pointing a finger that I haven't pointed at myself.
