A Message From the Editor

Good morning. By now you may have heard that researchers out of Stanford recently released a study finding that AI-powered research tools from Thomson Reuters and Lexis hallucinated 17% or more of the time. You might also have heard that both companies, as well as many others in the legal industry, pushed back against the study, citing, among other things, faulty research methodologies. While the tumult is notable, it raises an even more significant question that LTN's Isha Marathe takes on in today's featured article—where has the benchmarking of AI tools in legal tech been up until now?

– Stephanie Wilkins, Editor-in-Chief, Legaltech News
