Hey guys,

This week is a pretty busy one for me as I'm playing hotel manager.

That's right, I've officially opened up my apartment for bookings (note: friends and family only) for the first time since moving to Dubai around a year ago. Let's just say it's been quite the experience hosting (insert eye rolling emoji here).

But, while I might be struggling with a messy guest (to put it lightly), I'm not struggling with the itinerary — this incredible city has done the planning for me.

Waiting for a friend at DXB soon? Here's how you should tackle the time (trust me):

If an early touchdown is scheduled, breakfast after a long-haul is a no-brainer — let the view do the talking if they're a little weary eyed. DRIFT, Ula and Bungalo34 are just a few to try.

A showstopper meal on the first night may set the bar high for the rest of the trip, but will guarantee a five-star review by the end. Sexy Fish, Dragonfly or At.mosphere fit the bill but there are many other new (and budget-friendly) restaurants to consider here too.

If you're not taking on the role of tour guide during the working day, getting your guest to grips with all the essential apps, public transport know-how and your local neighbourhoods will take the pressure off of you. A walk and lunch at the Marina or a trip to Dubai Mall is at least one day ticked off...

Don't go thinking you need to spend loads either. Make the most of the city's cheap thrills with completely free ladies' nights, weekend freebies and luxe dinners for less. After all, they should be happy to just spend some QT with you.

And don't forget to take time for yourself.

I may sound dramatic but I'm not going to judge if you need a couple of hours away from the hotel front desk...
