Coming up this weekend

Our live coverage this weekend starts on Friday evening at 8pm (all times BST) with minute-by-minute updates from the Lionesses' 2025 European Championship qualifier against Sweden at Wembley.

Saturday's action starts at 11am with day two of the county cricket season. The usual hectic day of football begins at 12.30pm with the defending Premier League champions Manchester City heading to Selhurst Park to face Crystal Palace. Our football clockwatch from 3pm will bring you updates from the rest of the league's games including Everton v Burnley and Aston Villa v Brentford. At 5.30pm, Arsenal head south to face Brighton. And then, from around 11pm, we'll bring you over-by-over coverage of New Zealand's third women's one day international against England.

Bright and early on Sunday, the Japanese Formula One GP begins at 6am before we continue our coverage of the county cricket with day three. At midday, the Old Firm derby kicks off as second-placed Rangers host league leaders Celtic, with only a point separating the two. We then head back to the Premier League, where Liverpool head to Old Trafford to take on fierce rivals Manchester United at 3.30pm before Tottenham host Nottingham Forest at 6pm.

… there is a good reason why not to support the Guardian

Not everyone can afford to pay for news right now. That is why we keep our journalism open for everyone to read. If this is you, please continue to read for free.

But if you are able to, then there are three good reasons to support us today.

1

Our quality, investigative journalism is a powerful force for scrutiny at a time when the rich and powerful are getting away with more and more

2

We are independent and have no billionaire owner telling us what to report, so your money directly powers our reporting

3

It doesn’t cost much, and takes less time than it took to read this message

Help power the Guardian’s journalism in this crucial year of news, whether with a small sum or a larger one. If you can, please support us on a monthly basis from just £2. It takes less than a minute to set up, and you can rest assured that you're making a big impact every single month in support of open, independent journalism. Thank you.
