Jan. 14, 2022 Because of the recent COVID surge, a number of arts organizations in St. Paul will soon require patrons who are vaccinated to also present proof of booster shots. The Minnesota Opera, the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, the Ordway and the Schubert Club said the new policy takes effect Feb. 1. For the unvaccinated, a negative COVID test taken within 72 hours of a performance is required. Another change: no more cloth masks. Only medical-grade N95s or surgical masks will be allowed. And the University of Minnesota announced Friday it'll temporarily require proof of vaccination or a negative test for indoor events from anyone 5 and older. That includes all events with attendance of 200 people or more, across all U of M campuses statewide and at rented facilities. It applies to sporting, theatrical and musical events, but not dining halls or normal academic instruction. The requirement begins Jan. 26 and runs through at least Feb. 9. Students, staff and faculty are only required to show their U card since the community is majority vaccinated.
