Voornaam,

The Supreme Court just took a hatchet to the Voting Rights Act, opening the door for voter discrimination and undermining one of the most hard-fought and important laws our country has ever enacted.

The decision, delivered by the right-wing majority on the Supreme Court, is a major blow for voting rights in America and is just the latest attack by Republicans on our democracy.

While Republicans across the country find new ways to suppress the vote, here in Oregon our Democratic leaders are dedicated to expanding access to the ballot and safeguarding our democracy, from universal vote-by-mail to automatic voter registration, to pre-paid postage on ballots and more.

But our work cannot stop until all Americans have full opportunity to exercise their right to vote, and until every person's vote is counted and treated the same — no matter who they are, where they live, or what they look like.

We can repair the damage done by the Supreme Court and restore the Voting Rights Act. Will you add your name to support the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act?

Justice Elena Kagan's dissent cuts right to the heart of the matter:

"What is tragic here is that the Court has (yet again) rewritten—in order to weaken—a statute that stands as a monument to America’s greatness, and protects against its basest impulses. What is tragic is that the Court has damaged a statute designed to bring about the end of discrimination in voting."

As Justice Kagan mentions, this is yet ANOTHER attack on the Voting Rights Act by Chief Justice John Roberts and his right-wing majority on the Supreme Court.

But we can fight back, restore, and further strengthen voting rights in America by passing the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act NOW. Add your name today.

Thank you,

— Oregon Democrats
