'DON'T SAY GAY': In what could spark a Florida-style "don't say gay" debate, a north Louisiana lawmaker has filed a bill that would ban discussion of sexual orientation or gender identity for students from kindergarten through eighth grade. "I talked to some educators," state Rep. Dodie Horton, R-Haughton, said. "They are not equipped, nor do they want to deal with these types of issues that belong in the home."
SELF-DEFENSE: Derrick Harry, the man accused of gunning down a 15-year-old boy on a Marrero sidewalk, told investigators he acted in self-defense, saying the teen was armed and accompanied by another person who shot at him first. Harry, 19, also alleged that the youth he killed, Ja’Marian Price, was part of a group that had shot at him in front of his home him several weeks earlier.
