To mark International Women’s Day, Ginny Sanderson has delved into untold stories of women in Scottish history.

These are the stories of women who were enslaved. Women who fought back against oppression, against societal norms and conventions.

 

Meet seven women working jobs 'in a man's world'

To tie in with the International Women’s Day theme of ‘challenge’ this year, Katharine Hay has spoken to women who are working in professions that are still heavily dominated by men.

From a trawler crew member who claims there is still no sign of a female skipper in Scotland's fishing industry, to one of the 0.4 per cent of female professional engineers in the UK, we wanted to know what it’s like for them to be doing jobs that are still widely considered ‘for the boys.’

Twice the number of Scots believe Nicola Sturgeon over Alex Salmond

Double the number of Scots believe Nicola Sturgeon told the truth to the Salmond Inquiry when compared to those who believe the former first minister’s version of events, a new poll for The Scotsman shows.

More than half of Scots (54 per cent) said they believe Nicola Sturgeon’s account compared with just a quarter (26 per cent) believing Alex Salmond’s, the poll shows.
