"The deaths of Oscar and Valeria represent a failure to address the violence and desperation pushing people to take journeys of danger for the prospect of a life in safety and dignity.”
Filippo Grandi, UN High Commissioner for Refugees

Dear Supporter,

You've probably seen the photo in the news. A drowned man and his daughter lie face-down in the Rio Grande, her little arm around his neck. The image captures the horrifying risks that families take to reach safety.

While the details remain uncertain, what is clear is that the circumstances that led to this tragedy are unacceptable. Supporter, I know you believe that no one should ever experience such terror and today you have the power to help.

SEND URGENT AID
People are fleeing El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras because gang warfare and violence are wreaking havoc on their communities — turning parts of Central America into some of the most dangerous places in the world.

The UN Refugee Agency is on the ground providing shelter, protection and emergency assistance to these families, and has urgently called for all countries to come together and take immediate and coordinated steps to prevent further tragedies like this from occurring.

We will continue to update you on the situation as new information comes out.

Thank you for your support.
