Remember taking a picture of yourself holding your driver's license just to open a Coinbase account? There's no question that Know Your Customer (KYC) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) laws make crypto difficult, as they have to match faces to names.
The key question: How can we provide governmental oversight on these new financial systems while still protecting user privacy?

The Stablecoin TRUST Act of 2022 (Senate.gov): Yesterday we reported on the UK embracing stablecoins; today we have a big step forward on the U.S. embracing stablecoins as well.
Senator Pat Toomey (R-PA) of the U.S. Senate Banking Committee unveiled draft legislation of The Stablecoin TRUST Act of 2022. It proposes that stablecoin issuers will have three ways of working within the existing U.S. banking system (summary here).
Investor takeaway: This is a big deal. It shows that the political tide is turning toward embracing stablecoins, which are the on-ramp to the rest of crypto. If and when it passes, everything changes.
The best part of the legislation may be the name: The TRUST Act. |

To show you how much you could be earning if stablecoins were incorporated into the U.S. banking system, here's a look at this week's interest rates on top stablecoins, compared to the average savings account: |

Investor takeaway: This is why Toomey says "Digital assets have the potential to be as revolutionary as the internet." If his TRUST Act gets passed, it'll be revolutionary indeed. |

Hi Everyone,
What do George Clooney, Val Kilmer, Christian Bale, Ben Affleck, Michael Keaton and Adam West all have in common?
That's right, they've all portrayed DC Comics' darkest hero...nee nee nee nee nee nee nee nee Batman! |
|
Of all the superheroes, comic book characters and recognizable figures out there, Batman is by far one of the most versatile.
His demeanor, gadgets and outfits are constantly evolving, as are the members of his dedicated fan base.
The mask and hood that he wears, also known as a cowl, has hundreds, if not thousands of versions across the DC Multiverse, and soon enough, there will be 200,000 more. ...
The NFTs that make up the official Bat Cowl Collection will go on sale April 26. The original purchases will be blind, and buyers will find out the details of their unique Bat Cowls in May.
Each unique asset, which will be minted on an Ethereum sidechain called Palm blockchain, will unlock a two-year road map backed by Warner Bros. Consumer Products and DC, and it will cost only $300.
It certainly seems like something worth checking out! |

Miami heat
Another thing you don't want to miss is the Bitcoin 2022 conference that's happening in Miami right now.
Last year the fear of missing out (FOMO) was so strong that I ended up booking my flight from Tel Aviv just a few days in advance. This year, attendance appears to be even bigger.
In the past, big conferences like this have ostensibly had some impact on crypto markets, as the sheer number of personal connections made and business deals closed helped drive the industry forward. Today, however, we can see prices declining, as bitcoin failed to build support at $45,000 per coin.
Our Executive Producer Matt Case has an amusing theory on why that might be in his latest video. No spoilers, but prepare to laugh out loud.
Unfortunately, I won't be able to make it personally this time, but several members of our senior staff are already on the ground. So if you're in town and would like to meet our team, let us know. |

A winning strategy
Last but not least, I'm happy to present you with something that will almost assuredly help you make money in the markets.
Analyst Alexandre Lores wrote a research piece that explains how to increase your performance using a strategy called enhanced dollar-cost averaging (EDCA), which one study showed to be more effective than the more traditional dollar-cost averaging (DCA) 90% of the time.
EDCA is like DCA, except that it involves buying more of an asset following a month where the asset lost value and less after a month where it appreciated.
For example, if a person invests $400 into bitcoin every month, they could instead put $450 into the digital currency following a month where it declined and $350 during a month after it gained in value.
As always, thanks for reading and sharing the BMJ Newsletter. For those of you who are in Miami, enjoy the heat and the conference. I'm really jealous. Will catch you next time.
Best regards, |
