Help the College Govern the Profession

Following the College’s successful restructuring, our governing Council, committees, and rosters are equally balanced between members of the public and members of the profession. Qualified members of the public who are interested in helping the College govern Ontario’s teaching profession are invited to apply on our website. Successful candidates will be selected to serve terms of up to two years.

Register for the 2022 Annual Meeting of Members

If you're interested in applying for one of the College’s governance positions, our 2022 Annual Meeting of Members will provide some insight into how our operations as Ontario’s teaching regulator are guided. The meeting, which will feature updates from Council Chair Diana Miles & Interim Registrar and CEO Chantal Bélisle, will be held online and is free to attend for everybody.

2021 Annual Report Released

The College’s 2021 Annual Report is now available on our website. The report provides a wide range of helpful information that covers how we protect the public interest as Ontario’s teaching regulator. You can also explore current and historical statistics about our membership, including aggregate qualifications of Ontario Certified Teachers and how many new teachers were certified in 2021.

Sexual Abuse Prevention Program Completion Deadline

The College’s mandatory online Sexual Abuse Prevention Program for Ontario Certified Teachers launched in January 2022, and since then more than 160,000 members and applicants have successfully completed the Program ahead of the September 15 deadline. The Program, developed in partnership with the Canadian Centre for Child Protection, provides teachers with an updated understanding of healthy professional relationships with students and advice on how to better identify signs that a student may be at risk.

Funding for Therapy & Counselling

The Sexual Abuse Prevention Program is an important proactive initiative that equips Ontario Certified Teachers (OCTs) with professional advice that helps better protect students. While cases of sexual abuse involving OCTs are uncommon, one case is too many. In those instances, the College offers funding for therapy and counselling for affected students, as well as family members.
