Despite dismal April precipitation, most Utah reservoirs are in relatively good shape.

The latest Utah Water Supply Outlook report said as of May 1, Utah’s statewide snow water equivalent (SWE) was 64% of normal (39% lower than last year’s May 1 value, and a 28% drop from last month), Amy Joi O'Donoghue reported.

According to a poll released earlier this year, it revealed that the state of Utah's water supply has many Utahns concerned.

Here are some of the results from the poll:

Slightly less than half of Utahns seem to believe the state has enough water to meet our needs today.

57% doubt that we will have enough water 20 years from now.

9 out of 10 respondents believe that they use less water than the average household, but 41% feel guilty for the amount of water they use on their landscaping.

“To be honest, from a water conservation perspective, we were a little bit relieved that there’s that much concern about the future because our water does sort of cycle from year to year, where one year we have a really dry year, we don’t have a ton of snowpack, and then, you know, the next year we might have a lot more. It’s easy to maybe get dismissive and say, ‘You know what? It’s going to be just fine,‘” said Jason Brown, executive vice president of communications and education at Envision Utah.

Second only to Oregon, Utah is in the best overall condition for reservoir storage in the West, sitting at 83% of average, down only 4% from last year, O'Donoghue writes.

Start intentionally looking for opportunities to ‘stack days, stack wins,’ Sheri Dew tells SVU graduates

Just week’s after athletes at Southern Virginia University claimed the school’s first NCAA Division III men’s volleyball national title, Sheri Dew reminded the university’s graduates that in sports, and in life, it is important to “stack wins,” Sarah Jane Weaver reported.

“I want you to think about all of the things you’ve been stacking here at SVU — the friends you’ve made, the experiences you’ve had, the hard things that you’ve overcome, the things you’ve learned, the things you’re better at today than you were several years ago,” she said. “You’ve already, whether you’re aware of it or not, been stacking wins.”

Here are her 5 principles on how to "stack wins"

Realize that “you have a divine orbit.”

Make your life be about more than just you.

Learn how to talk to God and how to get direction from him.

Learn how to communicate.

Put God first.

“I invite you to start intentionally looking for opportunities to stack days — days of helping others, days of cheering others on, days of learning how to communicate with heaven, days of receiving revelation, days of overcoming a difficult moment, days when you can see that you’re growing," Dew said.
