August 26, 2024

Good morning. Los Angeles may not be famous for its underground transportation, but its subterranean art scene is certainly having a moment. Today, Matt Stromberg visits an exhibition dedicated to Operation Under, a collective of graffiti artists, photographers, and urban anthropologists making paintings in the unlikely environments of the city’s tunnels. My favorite: a mural in tribute to a family of raccoon dwellers.

In the news, the director of a family-friendly balloon exhibition in New York City is revealed to have made violent anti-Palestinian comments online. Staff Reporter Rhea Nayyar has the story. Also, catch a glimpse of the Armory Show before it opens next week, see highlights from the Santa Fe Indian Market, and more.
