Everything we experience is a projected onto our conscious awareness, whether its from phenomena outside of us, or from thought objects created by our mind within. Consciousness goes much deeper than just that of our perceived sense of self—consciousness is imbued within every single iota of matter as well.
Believe it or not, all things are aware—even if they’re unable to act upon it.
While matter, in all of its disparate parts and manifestations, might not possess sentience to express their consciousness in a visible manner, the intelligence within all things cannot be ignored. For example, molecules of the same type are attracted to each other—they seek each other out, they are aware of each other, they have the ability to perceive and then act upon it—even without thought or mind.
All things are aware—every atom, every sub-atomic particle—this is life. This is matter.
This is the reality of DNA. The invisible and inexplicable thread of consciousness is woven through all that Is, and in such a way, all things are aware, from the smallest pebble to the largest mountain. All things do what’s best for their own beingness, to the best of their abilities. How else could we conceive of a body who autonomously heals itself? It’s self-aware elements instinctively know what to do when they are aware of a problem. In similar ways, a flower intuitively knows to turn its blossoming face towards the energy of the sun. A sprouting seed knows to reach through the earth, to climb through rock and soil, so it too can taste the energy of light. An unhatched chick is aware of its finished gestation, knowing when the time has come to kick and squirm to crack open its egg. A tree helps to build an information superhighway made of roots and fungi that allows plants to communicate and help each other out. The examples are infinite—all of Mother Nature is aware, it’s not just saved for beings with eyes, ears, hearts, lungs and minds. If a reason was ever needed to explain why compassion, empathy and understanding are the world’s most precious commodities, this is it. We are all alike. We all feel. We all want to live, to survive, to BE the best we can be—every woman and man, every plant, animal, and tree, every rock and mountain, every river and lake.
We all share the same consciousness, it’s only our tools of expression that differ.
When you harm one, you harm us all. Search within to find compassion for all things, no matter how animal or inanimate a thing may appear—respect and love has no boundaries. No matter how challenging a moment may be, when compassion is found, it will not only lessen the pain, but it will dissolve all anger as well.
Compassion is the vehicle of ultimate understanding. Through it, all things can be known.
Let your wisdom flourish—imbue your spirit with the untapped energy of ever-flowing compassion, and the universe will open its arms in a loving embrace that can no longer be ignored. Feel the love shining within all things. When you live a life of compassion, life becomes more effortless than you ever could have imagined—all struggles just seem to fade away.
“The sooner one develops compassion in this journey, the better. Compassion lets us appreciate that each individual is doing what he or she must do, and that there is no reason to judge another person or oneself. You merely do what you can to further your own awakening.” —Ram Dass
In this week's episode I explore the formless nature of consciousness permeating all of our perceptions, that forms the emptiness of awareness that all manners of subjectivity exist within. Thanks for listening, I hope you enjoy the show. Brian
