Dear friend and supporter, Israel is enduring one of its most challenging periods, with the repercussions of ongoing conflict touching every corner of our society. To illustrate the depth of hardship many are facing, I want to share a poignant story from Roni, one of our dedicated volunteers. Roni just shared with us a recent experience during a distribution run in south Tel Aviv, aimed at assisting welfare families displaced from the north. It was there Feed Israel volunteers encountered a neighbor who urged them to visit an adjacent home, suspecting someone inside might really need their help. Nothing could have prepared them for what they found. Inside, they met a 93-year-old Holocaust survivor, a woman living alone, often too overwhelmed to speak much, her sad situation bringing her to tears. She shared her struggle to make ends meet, her difficulty in affording even the most basic of food items while the majority of her meager funds are spent on essential medications. Out of respect for her request, we didn't capture her image, but the scene in her modest home (see above) was a vivid illustration of the struggles many Israelis are silently enduring today. Moved by her story, Feed Israel has committed to delivering warm, nutritious meals to her doorstep twice daily and ensuring she receives a steady supply of basic food items weekly. This story is but one of many in a nation grappling with the dual crises of a war and a faltering economy. Thousands of families are displaced, their lives upended, and their futures uncertain. |
