Louisiana COVID-19 hospitalizations at lowest point in entire pandemic
By Drew Broach | Deputy metro editor VIRUS VALLEY: Who says the news is all bad? There are fewer coronavirus patients in Louisiana hospitals now than at any point in the 20-month-long pandemic, a dramatic decline from the mid-August record peak and a sign that at least for the moment, the state's COVID-19 fight has entered a new, more manageable phase. A TOAST TO TEA: Another New Orleans startup has been sold to a larger company. This time it's Big Easy Bucha, the beverage manufacturer that was founded by husband-and-wife team Austin Sherman and Alexis Korman seven years ago. 7th WARD BLOODBATH: The blood that police found Thursday on the front door and steps of a 7th Ward house provided grim evidence of New Orleans' 177th homicide of the year: A man had fatally stabbed a woman, got stabbed by her 9-year-old daughter in defense then stabbed the girl, too, law enforcement sources said. Thanks for starting your day with us. Keep up with the news throughout the day at NOLA.com. D.B. |
