Mixed-use project in the works for Market Plaza strip in Ohio City: Offices, apartments, retail and parking could be coming to a prominent corner of Ohio City across the street from the West Side Market. Chicago-based Harbor Bay Real Estate Advisors has a contract to buy - and a vision of demolishing - the Market Plaza shopping center at West 25th Street and Lorain Avenue. Harbor Bay hopes to erect a 12-story office building and a slightly shorter apartment building on the 3-acre site. Read more. 15 police recruits accused of cheating won’t take state test: Fifteen police recruits under internal investigation on accusations of cheating will not be allowed to take the state police-licensing test, which they are required to pass before they become certified police officers. Former Cleveland City Councilman Zack Reed says 11 of the recruits under investigation are black, cutting all but five black recruits from the academy classes' roster that will take the test. Fentanyl factor in 14 of 16 recent overdose deaths in Cuyahoga County: Preliminary test results from the county medical examiner show fentanyl was a factor in at least 14 of the 16 drug overdose deaths from a recent five-day period in Cuyahoga County. Fentanyl overdose deaths are still projected to significantly decrease this year compared to last year's record total. But the continued prevalence of other opioids and an increase in deaths involving cocaine, has Cuyahoga County on pace to approach last year’s total of 727 fatal overdoses. Read more. Baker Mayfield throws two TDs in Browns preseason win over Giants: Baker Mayfield threw a 54-yard touchdown pass to rookie receiver Antonio Callaway, one of two TD passes on the night, as the visiting Browns won their preseason opener, 20-10, over the New York Giants. Mayfield completed 11 of 20 attempts for 212 yards and the two TDs in seven series.
