Hi there,

What a week it's been on the anti-corruption front.

From Russia to the Dominican Republic, Malaysia and beyond, this week saw a number of corruption related developments involving our movement.

Our colleague, the head of Transparency International Russia's Siberian office, Stanislav Andreychuk, was detained for participating in a protest previously approved by authorities. We called upon his immediate release, which happened soon after – but he was fined 10,000 rubles (US$170) and will appeal the decision.

In the Dominican Republic we witnessed the biggest anti-corruption protest this year to date, as tens of thousands of citizens flooded the streets and participated in the Marcha Verde, or Green March, demanding the President and other top officials to resign after being caught within the wider Odebrecht scandal. Our chapter there is leading the Green March efforts alongside other civil society organisations.

Meanwhile, our chapter in Malaysia joined forces with other local civil society organisations to call for the formation of an independent body to tackle issues of corruption in the country.
