Time To Reset Consumer Financial Protection
 

The CFPB was created to make sure that consumers aren’t tricked and trapped by financial service providers. Consumers also want to borrow money, when they need it, and access other financial service products to help them get by. The CFPB didn’t get the memo on that, says economist David Evans, Chairman of the Global Economics Group and a leading expert on the CFPB. He argues that the agency wasn’t set up to make sure it didn’t toss out the baby with the bath water — and says look no farther than what’s happening to those in the bottom 40 percent of the income distribution.
