The 2016 U.S. Presidential Election taught us many things. But Karen Webster said that it mostly taught us what happens when people use bad data to make big decisions. She lays out the seven deadly data sins that she said contributed to what most everyone, especially the Clinton and Trump campaigns, characterized as a very big November surprise. Those same seven deadly data sins, Webster says, can also derail the decisions made in a time of great disruption and uncertainty — including the disruption and uncertainty driven by innovation. Which, in case you haven’t noticed, is payments and commerce — big time. Uh oh.
