Decoupled Debit — Again?

When decoupled debit hit the scenes in the mid-2000s, it was touted as the merchant’s reprieve to interchange fees. It wasn’t. A decade or so later, Karen Webster said there are new reports that merchants will bring back that oldie-but-not-so-goodie way for consumers to pay them. What’s so different this time? Not much, Webster says, including how it all might end — should it ever begin again.
