As part of a three-record day for the Cali Condors in their International Swimming League triumph in the semifinal round of the postseason, Caeleb Dressel destroyed the short-course world standard in the 100-meter individual medley. Becoming the first man to break the 50-second barrier in the event, Dressel touched the wall in 49.88 to easily wipe out the former record of 50.26, set by Russian Vladimir Morozov on two occasions.

Olympic silver medalist Milorad Cavic hopped on the Inside With Brett Hawke podcast to talk about his career, where he was a part of perhaps the most famous non-relay swim at the Olympic Games when he famously got beat by Michael Phelps by 0.01 in the 100 butterfly in 2008. Cavic did mention how that race put swimming on the map and how his rivalry with Phelps was built.

There is no doubt that Adam Peaty is the greatest 100 breaststroker in history, and with a short-course world record added to his ledger on Sunday afternoon, the British star only enhanced his legacy in the event.

Racing for the London Roar in the semifinals of the International Swimming League, Peaty took down South African Cameron van der Burgh’s 11-year-old world record in the 100 breaststroke.

When Jason Lezak entered the water for the United States on the anchor leg of the United States’ 400 freestyle relay at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, the race was seemingly over. Lezak trailed Frenchman Alain Bernard by a body length and overcoming that deficit appeared impossible. But Lezak, behind the greatest anchor leg in history, gradually reeled in Bernard to give the United States an improbable gold medal. Today, Nov. 12, Lezak turns 45, and his epic anchor leg remains fresh in the memory.
