My friends and family always seem to laugh when I say that I can count my best friends on one hand. My dog, my mom… yes, my mom is on that list. My mom, Carmen, is one of my best friends in the whole world. She means so much to me. She and the rest of my family have sacrificed so much to help me accomplish my goals and dreams both in and out of the pool.

Virginia Swimming Sweeps Navy Behind Pool Record From Kate Douglass in 200 IM

The No. 1 ranked Virginia swimming and diving women’s team and 13th ranked UVA men’s team swept Navy in a dual meet as the team opened the season on Saturday (Oct. 31) at Lejeune Hall.

The Cavaliers defeated Navy 188-104 in the women’s meet and 181-117 in the men’s meet. Read more about the pool records set.

Michigan State University to Cut Swimming & Diving After 2020-21 Season

Sources have confirmed to Swimming World that Michigan State University has cut swimming & diving effective after the 2020-21 season.

This is the eighth school in Division I to cut swimming and diving this year alone as Michigan State joins Division I schools East Carolina, Connecticut, Boise State, Dartmouth, Iowa, William & Mary and La Salle in cutting swimming teams to ease the financial fallout from the COVID-19 pandemic. (William & Mary this week reinstated its women’s program.)

University Athletic Association Conference Cancels Winter Sports Season

The University Athletic Association (UAA) Presidents Council has unanimously approved a resolution to cancel all formal UAA winter sport competition for the 2020-21 season.

The schools in the UAA include, Emory, Chicago, WashU, Rochester, NYU, Case Western Reserve, Carnegie Mellon and Brandes.

Swim England CEO Nickerson Seeks Answers On Pool Closures As Second Lockdown Is Announced

Swim England chief executive Jane Nickerson has questioned the closure of pools and expressed her disappointment they are not classed as essential services following the announcement of a second lockdown.

Prime minister Boris Johnson said yesterday that a four-week lockdown in England will begin in the early hours of Thursday 5 November and will last until Wednesday 2 December during which time all indoor leisure facilities will be forced to close.

Hall of Fame Aquatic Center’s 27 Meter High Tower Goes to Precast

The time has come to dive into the precast concrete fabrication process for the Hall of Fame Aquatic Center’s 27 Meter High Tower.

A few pictures from the field trip to Gate Precast in Kissimmee on October 16, 2020. The Fort Lauderdale team was there to select the color and textures for the dive tower and review the construction plans.
