Ryan Lochte Announces first ‘Race the Legends’ Event in Egypt

Ryan Lochte who recently partnered with The Global Swim Series (GSS) to try and help grow the sport of swimming around the world has announced that the first “Race The Legends” (RTL) event will be held in Egypt from Oct 30 – Nov 4, 2021.

This new format will allow swimmers from all over the world to participate in Virtual and In-person Races with many of the greatest swimmers of all time in select GSS open water race locations around the globe.

Ranking the top swimmers in the world involves comparing swimmers from one event, how a 50 freestyler stacks up next to a 200 butterflyer and a 100 breaststroker to a miler. It’s always subjective, depending on what qualities one particular judge finds to be most impressive. Obviously, these rankings can change very quickly before and after swims of significance.

Ellen Walshe Makes FINA ‘A’ Time In 200IM Irish Record; May Not Qualify For Tokyo Due To Policy

Ellen Walshe set an Irish 200IM record of 2:12.02 to go inside the FINA ‘A’ time at the Swim Ireland Performance Meet but it may not be enough to book a spot for Tokyo because of the governing body’s selection policy.

The 20-year-old twice lowered Grainne Murphy‘s 2009 record of 2:13.64, going 2:13.17 in the morning before returning in the evening to slice a further 1.15secs for a time that was within the FINA ‘A’ standard of 2:12.56.
