Kieran Smith Blasts New American Record With 4:06 500 at SECs (RACE VIDEO)


Nearly 24 hours after nearly breaking 1:30 in the 200 freestyle, Florida sophomore Kieran Smith absolutely demolished the record books in the 500 freestyle, scorching a 4:06.32. The time lowered the NCAA record set last season by Townley Haas of Texas (4:08.19) and also took down Zane Grothe’s American record of 4:07.25 set in December 2017.

When David Curtiss won the 50 freestyle title at the Eastern Interscholastic Championships as a freshman in 19.97 seconds, he already had his eyes on more. It wasn’t out of the realm of possibility, the Pennington School sprinter figured, to take that time into uncharted territory in his high school career.

Crile Hart Breaks NCAA Division III Record in 200 IM at NCAC Championships

Kenyon junior Crile Hart broke the NCAA Division III record in the 200 IM over the weekend at the NCAC Championships in Granville, Ohio with a 1:58.04. Hart broke the old record of 1:58.18 set by NYU’s Honore Collins at NCAAs in 2019, when she defeated Hart by two seconds to take the national title.

Greg Louganis, the Olympic diving champion, legend and humanitarian, and his manager, Greg. H. Sims, of Arya Worldwide Entertainment, are in development on a feature film of Louganis’ life following a very complicated process of obtaining the rights to his story.
