A few days ago, Anastasia Lott told us she thought there was no beating Aggie ice cream, but now we have two more opinions in the mix! Lynn Ogden took a more scientific approach to settle this battle: “I earned two degrees from USU in Food Science and worked in the creamery and made Aggie ice cream. I later earned a Ph.D. in food science from the University of Minnesota. I then had a 30-year career teaching Food Science at BYU. We have good relations with the Aggie folks and work together in the Bonneville Section of the Institute of Food Technology. “Several years ago, at the fall picnic Dr. Donald McMahon from USU and I planned a blind taste test: Aggie vanilla ice cream vs. BYU vanilla ice cream. About 30 or 40 people participated. BYU’s won. Don cried foul, but it was all in good fun, and we are still good friends.” But in an unexpected twist of events, Robert Porter gave us a wild card: “I'll go with the Creamery in Beaver, Utah over BYU.” Speaking of which: It’s Bear Lake raspberry and huckleberry milkshake season!
