Alicia Gangone experienced significant loss throughout her childhood: the death of her mother, the passing of two grandfathers, and the sudden move of her father and stepmother.

But as she pursued higher education, she also found new communities across four campuses: friends, family, teachers, and mentors who gave her the support she needed to find academic success and cultivate her Indigenous identity.
