As we inch closer and closer to 2024, and the holiday season comes to a close, we wanted to send one last e-mail to appeal to our donors and supporters and ask for help in getting our annual fundraising campaign off on the right foot.
Since our last email, we've raised over a third of our $11,000 goal but we think we push that needle even further before we get to the New Year! Can you help us? Read below on why donating to EAAA means so much to our organization, our volunteers, and more importantly, our community. |

In case the festive flashing colored lights blinking at you from your neighbor's house, the increase of Grinch-themed… well everything, or the stack of annual fundraising letters sitting on your dining room table, didn’t sound the alarm, it’s holiday season. A time for you to enjoy friends and family, and for organizations to thank you for your help over the last year and once again ask for your support in the upcoming trip around the sun.
This year we wanted to save a tree or two by breaking from the traditional mailed letter and offering our holiday message via email. Also, with it being the SEASON OF GIVING, we wanted to not only let you know what your gift helped us to accomplish this year, but also GIVE YOU a few reasons to donate to us again next year. |
|
First things first, we wanted to thank you for your donation! Whether it was a donation you made days ago, months ago, or even years ago, the fact that you took time out of your day, and money out of your finances to support the work we do, means the world to us. |
That gift may have helped us provide a community member with much-needed nutrition through Meals on Wheels or your donation resulted in a struggling caregiver getting more tools, resources, or support during a most difficult time. |
|
Your donation past or present, could have led to someone finding new financial relief during open enrollment, or maybe because of you, one of our community members can keep their pet at home because they received pet food. |
So, why should you consider donating to us once again?
We could try to make a case but instead we want you to hear from those directly impacted! |

Liz Ryan Durgin Center Volunteer
|
|
"As a volunteer, I get an opportunity to see firsthand what the Durgin Center means to our community. Many people come here weekly or even daily and it may be the only interaction they have at any given time. Your gift may mean the difference between socialization and isolation."

The responsibility of being a caregiver can be frightening and lonely. When I needed help I was encouraged to contact the EAAA. The caregiver coordinator was immediately encouraging and the class and support group have given me the tools and support I need to continue in my role as caregiver. I can assure you that any gift you giv will be greatly appreciated and allow EAAA to continue providing the needed skills, tools, and support needed. |

| "As board president, I am keenly aware, not only of the breadth of services offered by Eastern Area Agency on Aging, but the incredible quality of care provided for our community. Our organization strives to offer our support and services at as low a cost as possible, and to do that, we need gifts like yours to help make sure we can care for as many of our neighbors as possible – today, tomorrow, and well into the future” |

If you'd prefer to donate by mail you can send a check to: Eastern Area Agency on Aging, 240 State St., Brewer, ME 04412 We ask that you please write "2024 Annual Appeal" in the memo line. |

During this season of giving, we are doing what undoubtedly many other worthy causes are doing, asking you to support older adults in your community. Aging is a blessing denied to so many in this world, but it does bring with it certain realities, and that is why our organization is here. We are here to help you, your parents, grandparents, sons, daughters, aunts, uncles, best friends, neighbors, and all others live a healthier and more engaged life and through support like yours, we can continue this work today, tomorrow, and well into the future.
Happy Holidays to you and yours! Christopher Hill Communications and Development Director |
