You Won’t See the Fake-Suicide “Prank” Scene From The Office on Netflix Because Some Jokes Just Don’t Land the Same

John Krasinski in The Office (2005) as jim
Netflix has helped to scrub an infamous prank scene from The Office.

Neil Gaiman Was Surprised By the Fan Reaction to Aziraphale and Crowley’s Love Story

Good Omens fandom and Crowley/Aziraphale love story
Even Neil Gaiman was not prepared for the "velocity and the ferocity and the enthusiasm with which people embraced" the Good Omens adaptation and its central love story.

Thanks PG&E! California is Consumed by Deadly Wildfires, Yet Again

Vallejo bridge on fire
Oh fall. The season of fluffy sweaters, crisp air, warm soup, and if, like me you’re in California, the whole state burns down to the ground around you. The dreaded “fire season” has been especially apocalyptic over the past three years, each end of summer/beginning of autumn bringing with it the terror of wondering which town will have to be evacuated next.

Rhodey Could Have Been Vice President in Avengers: Endgame, but What About Don Cheadle?

Rhodey, a.k.a. War Machine, readies himself for the fight against Thanos in the poster for Avengers: Endgame
Avengers: Endgame had plenty of storylines that ended up being dropped throughout the process of writing the film. From Natasha Romanoff's orphanage to alternate endings, there was a lot that could have been different in the end product and, one of those things was James "Rhodey" Rhodes, Vice President of the United States of America.

Oh Shut Up, Morning Joe, Booing Donald Trump Is Extremely Patriotic

Melania and Donald Trump attend Game Five of the 2019 World Series
When Trump's presence was announced to the World Series crowd, the 41,000 baseball fans in attendance (or at least a good number of them) switched from cheering to booing as soon as his face hit the jumbotron. You really do love to see it.

Ugh I Can’t Believe I Want to Watch Steven Moffat’s Dracula

Screengrab from Moffat's Dracula
It's 2019, and here I am, excited to watch a Steven Moffat show. Have I learned nothing? Apparently not, because Dracula actually looks really good.

Booksmart Lesbian Kiss and Sex Scene Cut From Airline Version & the Cast Is Furious

Beanie Feldstein and Kaitlyn Dever in Booksmart (2019)
Last night, my timeline erupted when writer Michaela Barton tweeted that she was watching the 2019 indie comedy Booksmart on a plane and the entire lesbian kiss and hookup scene was cut from the movie. Of course, the heterosexual kiss scenes stayed.

11 Anime Villains We Can’t Help but Love … Not You Oberon!

Greed from Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood
In the delightfully philosophical—and sometimes backwards—world of anime, it’s sometimes the villains we want to root for. Sure, they’ve made some mistakes, woke up on the wrong side of morals, maybe even murdered a few people, but with eyes that make us swoon and backstories that make Shakespearean tragedies look like a joke, we can’t help but love them.

Things We Saw Today: Lina Wertmüller Finally Got Her Oscar

Seven Beauties
Lina Wertmüller, the first woman to ever be nominated for an Oscar for Best Director is finally getting her long, long-overdue recognition. First nominated for her film Seven Beauties, (set in 1930s Italy, about a thug who kills a man, joins the military, goes AWOL, and ends up in a concentration camp) in 1977, is still one of only five women to have ever been nominated for the award. However, this weekend at this year's Governor Awards, she was finally given an honorary trophy.

“Pore Jud is Daid”: Watchmen Pays Homage to the Darkness of Oklahoma!

Seventhy Cavalry vs Jud
But what I wanted to talk about, was it’s deep connection (both literally and thematically) to the Roger’s and Hammerstein classic musical, Oklahoma! And that this musical is an important key to understanding the episode fully. That’s right musical theater nerds. It is our time now. The rest of you, just hear me out.
