Hi John, It's been too long since I've had a daily art practice. Semi-daily-once-in-a-while-maybe-on-weekends-or-when-the-chores-are-done...yes. But not daily. Life gets full, choices are made, and then suddenly there's no time for art. But no more! I've decided to show up for myself, even if it's just twenty minutes, and I've been rewarded with reconnection to myself, joy, a creative boost, enhanced abstract thinking, a feeling of accomplishment, and more. Each morning I get up early, make coffee, feed the dog, empty the dishwasher (basically, get all the morning chores done...quickly!), then open my sketchbook for an Art Experiment. I can share more about these if that's of interest...lmk. And it's been great! My mood lifts, I have a sense of creative freedom, I test new ideas in a safe space. And I want this for you if you'd like it too. Interested in seeing my process? I'd love to invite you to follow my Creative Habit on Instagram. So I'm sending this out to you in case you could use a pep talk and encouragement to make a commitment to you, and make it happen. I'll share a simple one-week plan so you can give it a go. No 30-day commitment or year-long challenge, just a week to see if you like it, with a culminating reward of seven days of making... ...all for you and your creativity! 7-Day Art Challenge: Think it: what do you want to do? Set aside 20 minutes a day: when will it be? Make a commitment to yourself: put it in your calendar, let other people know you're doing it if you need to Make it happen: show up tomorrow at the designated time Repeat: then do it the next day and the next... Artist Chuck Close said, "Inspiration is for amateurs. The rest of us just show up and get to work. If you wait around for the clouds to part and a bolt of lightning to strike you in the brain, you are not going to make an awful lot of work. All the best ideas come out of the process; they come out of the work itself." Hang on :) I want to make this really useful, so I created this PDF of this process for you... π« Click here to get it now.β Did you find this lesson helpful?
