Greetings from L.A.! While the rest of the country is seeing record high temperatures, it's been pretty much perfect along the southern California coast with highs hovering around 72F. Fortunately, so far today, the weather is cooperating across the country as *only* 150 flights have been canceled. But that can all change with some pop-up thunderstorms (another reason you want to depart early in the morning as thunderstorms typically materialize in the afternoon).

There's been a ton of travel news this week (scroll down to 12 Things to Know to read it all) and one of the major ongoing industry stories is about the baggage issues being faced by short-staffed airlines and airports. I've written multiple articles on the subject to help you avoid losing your luggage in the first place as well as tips for what to do if your bag does get lost.

Airline Lost Your Luggage? Do This If You Want to Get Compensated
For months, I’ve been advising readers that the key to avoiding the majority of this summer’s travel hassles is to fly off-peak, fly nonstop and don’t check a bag. And if you have to check a bag, then drop an AirTag in it so you can track your bag yourself. I have a lot more tips about how to prevent an airline from losing your luggage, which you can read about here. But what happens when an airline loses your luggage? Here's how to get compensated.

This $5 Luggage Service Guarantees Your Checked Airline Bag Will Arrive or They’ll Pay You $1,000
Did you know there's a $5 service out there that will guarantee your bags will arrive to your destination airport or they will pay you $1,000? For $10 you will get $2,000. Here are the details
