EDDINGTON: This town just a few miles down Route 9 from Brewer is named for Jonathan Eddy, a Nova Scotia native and military leader who was a staunch supporter of the rebels during the American Revolution, even going so far as to try to convince his home province to secede from Britain alongside the original 13 colonies. Today, the town is one of a number of bedroom communities in the Bangor region, though with the Interstate 395 extension due to open this year, we may see a demographic shift there in the years to come.
