American Girl’s 2025 Doll of the Year is an entrepreneur — and she’s from Howard County. Summer McKinny is the founder of a dog walking and treats business in her hometown of Columbia, according to the backstory developed in collaboration with a local educator. It’s rare for a doll to have an entrepreneurial background, but the company found increased interest: In surveys, 47% of girls aged 7 to 12 said they could see themselves becoming entrepreneurs.
