NATIONAL: In honor of Teacher Appreciation Day today, Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants around the country are offering an “extra credit” package, allowing teachers to get 30% off rates. Additional perks will include a bottle of Champagne and a basket of apples. The package can be redeemed any time this summer at participating properties in Los Angeles, Dallas, Atlanta, Nashville, Denver, Austin and other cities.

Global brand storytelling agency INVNT has launched a higher education division dedicated to producing physical and virtual events for universities and colleges. Sarah Winkler will serve as senior vice president of INVNT Higher Ed, while JoAnn Peroutka has been named vice president of the division.

MIAMI/SOUTH FLORIDA: AC Hotel Fort Lauderdale Sawgrass Mills/Sunrise at Sawgrass Mills is now open. The eight-story, 174-room hotel is managed by Concord Hospitality and features a sleek, contemporary design, plus more than 1,675 square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting space with floor-to-ceiling windows.

NAPA VALLEY, CALIF: The 15th edition of Festival Napa Valley will take place July 16-25. The all-outdoor event will include symphonic concerts and opera and dance performances; it will also debut a new celebration of the vocal arts, a multiyear partnership with University of Miami’s Frost School of Business and the new Joel Revzen Conducting Fellowship. Tickets are now available.

NEW ORLEANS: This summer, Chandelier Bar will make its debut at The Four Seasons Hotel and Private Residences New Orleans. The lobby bar will feature a cocktail program from Hadi Ktiri, plus cuisine from Alon Shaya and, true to its name, a custom chandelier made from 15,000 crystals. The venue will have 85 seats, including 22 at the bar, 51 in the lounge and 12 on a garden terrace.
