For this Giving Tuesday, we are supporting a wonderful and vital national organization, Vision to Learn, in their quest to provide free eye exams and glasses to children in low-income communities. Vision correction is a crucial part of brain health - especially for kids, where the growing brain relies on accurate input from the eyes to build a healthy brain. Why Vision to Learn? Vision to Learn provides a crucial service to schoolchildren in the U.S. There are an estimated two million kids who lack glasses, which makes it hard for them to succeed in school. Studies have shown that 95% of low-income first graders who need glasses don't have them. Vision to Learn's mobile eye clinics tackle this problem by visiting the kids who are most in need, and providing them with eye exams and glasses. Kids with corrected vision are more confident, participate more in class, and see improvements in their grades. In fact, research from UCLA has found that after receiving glasses from Vision to Learn, kids' GPAs and math scores went up. Since their founding in 2012, Vision to Learn has facilitated over 600,000 vision screenings, provided 160,000 eye exams, and given out 125,000 pairs of glasses—all free of charge. For more information, visit www.visiontolearn.org. This year, on CyberMonday and Giving Tuesday, we’re having a two-day flash sale, and we’re making it easy for you to become a BrainHQ subscriber while making a difference for kids who need glasses. With your new subscription, we’ll add a free one-year membership for you to give to a friend or loved one—and, we will give a $10 donation to Vision to Learn, to help even more kids get the glasses they need to be learners and achievers. |
