I just finished reading “Of Boys and Men: Why the Modern Male Is Struggling, Why It Matters, and What to Do about It” by Richard Reeves. It was put on my radar by this great YouTube video that sums the book up quite nicely. Reeves has given me a lot to ruminate on, especially because I’m expecting a baby boy later this year.
Tell me: What is your parenting advice for this first-time mom?
Water for wildlife: Dire consequences of a shrinking Great Salt Lake
How does a smelly, salty, stagnant body of water support a unique and vibrant ecosystem in and around its shores?
The freshwater wetlands that buffer Great Salt Lake's eastern shore from the urban sprawl of Salt Lake City and its suburbs provide a critical oasis in the second driest state in the nation. These wetlands support a myriad of mammals, plants, and millions of breeding and migrating birds.
Meg Walters has some questions if Salt Lake City becomes a home to a Major League Baseball team. “Namely, if the plan works out and we get a team, what are we calling them? And perhaps more importantly, what song will we sing in the seventh-inning stretch?”
Some team name suggestions from Utah Today readers last week were:
Salt Lake Seagulls
Wasatch Faultz
Quaking Aspens
Utah Venturers
As for the song, Meg suggests “Utah, This Is The Place” and as someone who had to memorize it in 5th Grade, I could not agree more.
