Good afternoon,

As you may have gathered, we are expecting official clarification of new Covid-19 restrictions to be enforced in Lancashire this afternoon.

There is an awful lot of speculation about the nature of these and some will be right, some will be wrong.

The details of this are still under discussion so as soon as we get the finalised news, we will share at lep.co.uk.

Please follow our live blog for the latest.

Meanwhile our local democracy reporter Paul Faulkner has attended South Ribble Council's planning committee where plans for 2,000 homes have been dramatically rejected today.

And he has also explained how a booking system has been planned for Preston and Chorley's A&Es for those with non- life-threatening medical problems.

We've shared news of UCLAN's plans for a 700-space car park and there has been a call to unblock the loos at Chorley bus station.

And in a shocking story, an intruder deliberately set fire to a dog's kennel, circling it with accelerant and leaving poor Patch needing life-saving surgery.

Don't forget to take part in our survey to find out what life is really like for people in Corona times - take part in the Big Conversation here.

Thanks, as always for your support and engagement this week. It's tough times but we all need to support each other locally.

Look after yourselves and enjoy the weekend!

Regards, Nicola Adam, deputy editor
