The world is bright and beautiful. The world is also dark and devestating. This constant tension leaves us aching for better while living in broken, and you don’t have to look far to see how splintered things have become. One scroll through Facebook or Twitter and you’ll be bombarded with sarcastic comments, polarizing language, and constant outrage that marks this cultural moment.
How do we we tend to our souls and practice humility in such an inflammatory time? How do we get quiet like Jesus or honest like Mary or earnest like Paul when it seems that everything is on fire? So yes. The world is a dumpster fire, and tensions are high. But also? He knew that when he signed up to carry us through 2020 and beyond. And for that reassuring kidness, I say, “Thanks be to God.”
