Hi Achternaam,

When you're canning, you never stop learning.

Recently, we shared something on the Facebook page that prompted a few readers to mention their experiences with low-sugar/no-sugar jam, which match my experiences. (More on that below if you're curious.)

Anyway, it brings out an interesting point that as your canning and food preservation repertoire grows, and you try more and more recipes, you're bound to learn something new. That's just part of the fun!

Sometimes, you will discover a new favorite recipe.

And other times? Well...you tried.

Before we dive into this newsletter's articles, really quickly I wanted to let you know that Fillmore Container is having a clearance sale (up to 75% off)!

There are big markdowns in the clearance section. Those embossed Ball jam jars (8oz) and daisy lids are beautiful. And the Jarboxes are a pretty good deal too, for those of you who need more canning storage space.

Check out Fillmore's clearance sale here.

Okay...now on to the articles. :)

Freezing Food - Page recently updated. Occasionally, freezing food is preferable to canning or dehydrating it (especially in a pinch). Learn how to freeze strawberries, tomatoes, herbs, parsnips, cherries, and much more on this page.

Weck Jars - Recently, it was pointed out to me that Weck canning lids actually HAVE been tested. There was a study done under the guidance of the University of Georgia in 2014. In this article, learn how to use Weck jars (so pretty!).

Canning Food - Page recently updated. Before you fill your first jar, or use your home canning recipes from your great grandmother, it is important to understand the science of what you are doing. (AKA, how to can and know that your home canning recipes are safe.)

Low-Sugar Jam - We stick with low-sugar jam because my family prefers it over no-sugar jam. Regardless, there's one thing you should know about canning low-sugar and no-sugar jams alike...
