Small town dubbed nation's 'Covid Capital'

A small seaside town has been called Scotland's 'Covid Capital' after an explosion of cases there.

Home to just a few thousand people, coronavirus cases in the area surged to among the worst in Scotland after Christmas.

Residents have been left shocked by the outbreak, highlighted by a chilling photo of a newsagent's window filled with death notices.

Mass vaccination centres open doors

Meanwhile, mass vaccination centres have opened in Scotland today. 

The facilities, in Edinburgh and Aberdeen, will have the capacity to vaccinate thousands of people a week from Covid-19. 

The centre openings come with the news more than 575,000 people in Scotland have now had their first dose of the coronavirus vaccine.
