Minnie Evans (American, 1892-1987)

Untitled (Face Surrounded by Angels, Birds, & White Winged Creature), 1966

Gift of Mr. and Mrs. Bruce B. Cameron

In 1962, a group of citizens bound by their common love of art came together to start St. John’s Museum of Art. Without regular city, state, or federal funding, the community created an art museum that has lasted for 60 years and is now the premiere art museum in eastern North Carolina and one of the most respected art museums in the state. Over six decades much has changed, but the community’s passion for and commitment to visual art has not.

Mary Cassatt (1844-1926) The Letter, 1891
