Happy Giving Tuesday!

CAM Year End Appeal

This year Cameron Art Museum has much to celebrate. It is our 60th anniversary, and we look back with gratitude at the six decades of art, love, and community.

In 1962, a group of citizens bound by their common love of art came together to start St. John’s Museum of Art. Without regular city, state, or federal funding, the community created an art museum that has lasted for 60 years and is now one of the most respected art museums in the state.

This past year CAM presented 11 exhibitions, 46 public programs, 60 youth programs, 133 classes, 209 school tours, and 100 public tours. We also created jobs for local artists in the Museum School and through public programs, enabling the museum to contribute to the vibrant cultural scene of the region. CAM paid artists a total of $217,946, underscoring the museum’s role as a driver of the creative economy in the region.

Over six decades much has changed, but the community’s passion for and commitment to visual art has not. As we celebrate our 60th anniversary, CAM continues to show the truth in what CAM donor and collector Louis Belden fervently believed and practiced, “Art is not stagnant. It grows and grows. To learn, you work at it with your eyes and your mind. And your heart.”

We know that you understand the power of the arts, and we hope that you will choose to make CAM a part of your year- end giving this year. Your gift to CAM’s Year-End Giving Campaign will help the to continue to serve southeastern North Carolina through high-quality exhibitions, engaging programs, and meaningful outreach. Your gift translates directly to our work:

$1,000 will fund transportation for 30 students for one community day

$500 will provide free admission for 50 for field trips

$250 will provide a Museum School scholarship to at student in need

$100 will provide admission for 10 students for an educational tour of Boundless

We invite you to join us during this season of giving by supporting CAM and the work we do here. Your gift to the museum can do so much - from helping fund an exhibition to providing field trips for children to making it possible for a child to participate in summer camp or an art class. We simply can’t do it without you. Your support will make a real, lasting impact on our community by providing high-quality art opportunities to all.
