The Sunset Performance Series, is a new FREE performance series designed to connect art and social justice, presented by TD Bank.

CAM's Cultural Curator & Sunset Performance Series host Daniel Jones with violinist

Christa Faison

The performances will take place outdoors in the beautiful PNC USCT Park directly in front of Boundless, the public sculpture honoring the United States Colored Troops and their fight for freedom.

Boundless permanently installed in the

PNC USCT Park

The soldiers in Boundless showcased their resiliency through battle. Today, we can display ours through a number of different outlets. The drummer of the USCT played the cadence for the soldiers to march to and we will continue what they started by playing and singing our own tunes. Join us at USCT Sculpture Park to listen and converse with local and regional performers who will use their gifts to share and spread awareness on topics important to them and their communities.”

- Daniel Jones, Cultural Curator,

Cameron Art Museum

The Sunset Performance Series is FREE and open to the public. Beer, wine and a selection of light bites will be available at CAM Cafe.

Aya Shabu of BalaKora performing

Thursday, April 27 at 7 PM

The spring season continues with BalaKora performing on Thursday, April 27 at 7 PM.

BalanKora, is an acoustic ensemble featuring the West African Soso Bala and Kora instruments. It is an enthralling cultural and musical experience for all audiences young and old.

The whole audience is immediately at ease as the twenty-one stringed Kora welcomes everyone to what becomes a huge family gathering. Ancestor to the harp, the twenty-one stringed Kora eases the entire audience with an ancient aural elegance, welcoming in perfect companionship, the pearly tones of the Soso Bala (ancestor to the modern marimba) bring a soaring beat that carries the audience on the wings of rhythm and song. Everyone is now clapping and singing as we resolve into our ancient traditional call and response.

BalanKora presents the unfamiliar tradition of our lyric and melodic African heritage.

Kevin Locklear Melvin and the Lumbee Tribe will close out the spring season of the Sunset Performance Series on Thursday, May 25 at

7 PM. Melvin, the Cultural Historic Preservation Officer for the Lumbee Tribe, will be speaking alongside a musical performance with a tribal member.

Join us on Thursday, April 27 at 7 PM for another incredible performance in the beautiful PNC USCT Park!
