CAM Spotlight:

Boundless Resonates Beyond CAM!

Boundless, the public sculpture honoring the USCT and their fight for freedom, is resonating well beyond Cameron Art Museum’s grounds.

On June 2nd, The American Civil War Museum opened Beyond Valor a new exhibition that highlights “the stories that embody the bravery and agency of the United States Colored Troops (USCT)” in Richmond, Virginia.

Click HERE for a selection of images of the United States Colored Troops taken during the war and from their postwar lives.

The American Civil War Museum in collaboration with CAM is hosting CAM’s Call for Descendants page on their website with the goal of connecting descendants and ancestors.

CAM is thrilled to be working together with the team at the American Civil War Museum to tell the story of the USCT and to find descendants of these brave men.

Daniel Jones, CAM’s Cultural Curator, will be filming USCT descendants on Saturday, July 8 at Cameron Art Museum as part of the museum’s USCT Oral History Project.

USCT descendants are urged to contact Daniel at djones@cameronartmuseum.org for more information.

These stories will be recorded and showcased during Cameron Art Museum’s November 11th

USCT Descendants Day.

Membership also allows us to create programming like CAM Community Days with FREE admission which brings people together from across our community.

CAM Members receive FREE admission, passes for friends and family, invitations to special members-only events and tours like member preview tours, and discounts in CAM Cafe, the Museum Shop, Museum School, and for public programs. Join CAM today!
