Connect with CAM

Corrine poloroid_rev.jpg

How long have you been volunteering at CAM?

I have been at CAM for about 4 years with at least one year off due to Covid.

Where would visitors normally find you when you are here?

Either behind the counter for the gift shop or out on the floor arranging the shelves or dusting them!

What recent event(s) or day(s) at CAM is the most memorable to you?

I really enjoyed the Humble Jumble art sale.

The Stephen Hayes dedication of his great monument. And for my regular days it is the atmosphere and greeting our diverse visitors/clients. The staff is great and Nan is a pleasure to work with.

Do you have a favorite CAM work of art? And/or what was your favorite CAM exhibition?

I have been fascinated by this cardboard sculpture of the dancers since day one.

I am so impressed by the changes of each exhibition and how interesting and great they are. It is hard to pick a favorite.

Why do you volunteer at CAM?

I appreciate art since I have so little talent.

Great group of people and it keeps me out of trouble one day a week!

We LOVE our volunteers!

volunteerlunchcollage.jpg

Last Wednesday we held a 1960's themed volunteer appreciation luncheon to thank our volunteers for all of their hard work. CAM Staff members attended and helped facilitate a special round of CAM 60 Year trivia! It was a great turnout with over 50 volunteers and interns joining us. Without volunteers CAM would never be able to do all the events and work that we do. We truly love our volunteers!

Speak Ya Peace: Juneteenth Celebration

Sunday, June 19, 2022, 2-5 PM

Free community day: event and galleries free and open to the public

The Juneteenth Committee of Wilmington will host an afternoon of celebration with spoken word, music, a fashion show, and dance! We welcome the words of poets Mama Makeda, ScaleHamHawk da Poet, and Yolanda Hernandez. Hear music from Soltree Reign and take part in community conversations from local organizations. Sample local flavors from food trucks, and come dressed in African inspired attire. Juneteenth recognizes African American freedom and emphasizes education and achievement. It's a time for communities to come together for reflection and rejoicing.
