Donor Spotlight: nCino

We are grateful for corporate donors like nCino, who support the work of the museum.

It is through nCino that CAM is able to create a brand new paid internship program for minority students. As an organization, CAM is committed to supporting diversity and inclusion in all aspects of our work. We are currently seeking two university students of color for one year internship positions at the museum to act as Museum Tour Guides for changing exhibitions and the new sculpture, Boundless.

Zedrick Applin, nCino's Head of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Community, says, “Having minority students give tours of the museum and Stephen Hayes’s sculpture gives them the opportunity to see and tell the stories of their culture through their own lens and voice. The impact of the stories told from the perspective of their lived experience gives a richer and deeper meaning to the ones that hear it. We are honored to partner with CAM on this endeavor to bring more diversity to the arts & culture programs within the city of Wilmington.”

Partner Portraits in Plaster

Instructor: Judith Chandler

Using plaster gauze, students will work with their partners and create a plaster portrait of each other. There will be 5+ layers of gauze to build a strong piece. The plaster will stay on the face for approximately 30 minutes. then removed and allowed to dry fully. For a more formal portrait, the surface can be layered with liquid plaster to create a specific texture or a smooth surface. Finishing may be as desired though most choose smooth sanding or spray painting. Once hard, the plaster will be removed and allowed to dry fully. It is expected that the plaster will remain white but there are options for adding humor or perhaps scary elements if desired.

Light Trails and Dark Streets; Night Photography Downtown

Instructor: Alan Cradick

With long exposures and using available light, you photo making does not need to end with the daylight. Many great images are made with longer shutter speeds and use of a tripod to steady your camera. Headlight streaks are also part of the night photography mix. We will meet downtown and spend the evening utilizing longer and longer exposures as the sun sets. There is no need for special equipment, just your camera and a tripod. On Saturday, we will meet at 6 pm, the following day, we meet for a group critique and to share our work.
