Rated “Best Big Band in Denver” by CBS Local, the Flatirons Jazz Orchestra pays tribute to the great Count Basie with an irreproachably swingin’ set that is guaranteed to get you on your feet.
Happy Birthday to the King! The ever-enjoyable Rekha Ohal Quartet pays tribute to the legendary Elvis Presley with a toe-tapping selection of his many great hits. Wearing your Elvis costume is in no way required for admittance, but no one is gonna stop you.
Denver saxophonist Daryl Gott and his quintet pay tribute to three of the most singular voices in jazz: Lee Konitz, Warne Marsh, and Lennie Tristano. The interwoven sounds of Lee Konitz and Warne Marsh have left a significant and relatively unexplored landmark in the jazz world. Borrowing the structure and form of the Great American Songbook tradition and blending it with contrapuntal influences of Bach and uncommon rhythmic figures, the three men created a sound that is still fresh to this day.
The Braxton Kahn Trio is comprised of long-time friends who seek to communicate grace, joy, and humor through the lens of original compositions and personal takes on jazz repertoire. Kahn, Heffron, and Roberts all maintain busy schedules as sidemen in the Colorado music scene but are exceptionally excited to share their unique musical vision as a trio.
A collaborative endeavor of virtuosic talent, Hipster Assassins is a high-octane punk jazz ensemble formed by Felix Pastorius in 2010. Born in NYC and maintaining a weekly residence at the historic Zinc Bar for two years, this tight group couples driving rhythms with staggering technical prowess to create a diverse and energetic sound guaranteed to give your ears a thrill.
