Enjoy Las Vegas without putting a penny in the slots
Jen - LV 5
There are many, less flashy things to do off the Strip. Within an hour drive of Sin City is enough natural beauty and wonder to keep you entertained for much less than any Vegas show. We wanted to highlight our favorite things to do on a budget, both on and off Las Vegas Boulevard.

Squeeze in a visit to the Delaware Gap
Huggins - Gap 3
There are ample hiking and kayaking opportunities at the park. In fact, last year the park celebrated its 50th anniversary and marked the occasion with a 50 miles for 50 years challenge where people can hike, bike and paddle along the hundreds of miles of trails in the park.

Should you use synthetic oil in an RV?
Laboratory for chemical analysis
Do synthetics really represent good value? The truth is that your buddy's high dollar synthetic oil - the one you're considering switching to - might be the "world's best oil" and it may very well be worth every penny.

Recipe of the week: Reuben sandwiches
Homemade Reuben Sandwich
This week's recipe is for Reuben sandwiches. It was submitted by Jan Powell of Bolivar, Mo. She and her family have been full-time RVers since October 2009 and own a HitchHiker fifth wheel pulled by a one-ton dually truck. They belong to Escapees and Workamper News.

A tale of two Californias
The view from Friendly RV Park in Mt. Shasta, Calif.
During the past two weeks, I ventured away from Los Angeles and the noise, humanity and smog. In doing so, I discovered there are actually two Californias - one wild, crazy and congested, and the other relaxed, fragrant and beautiful.

The dreaded commute
trafficapps
There was no such thing as "rush hour" anymore - it's bumper to bumper all day long! Seems like everybody's in their car all day every day. Makes a person wonder, "Doesn't anybody work anymore?"

Camco 42183 Screen Door Cross Bar
Jen - screen 4
Rated 4 stars
I found myself always struggling to go in and out of the screen door on our fifth wheel. Now, with the help of this little gadget, I have a nice bar to hold onto and securely shut and easily open my RV screen door.

Pirate Cove RV Park - Needles, Calif.
Jen - Pirate 5
Rated 4 stars
All of the riverfront RV sites are separated over 25 individual peninsulas that contain two to 10 spots each. We spent two weeks nestled steps away from the beautiful Colorado River and were treated daily to breathtaking sunrises and sunsets.

Roads Less Traveled: How to defrost an RV refrigerator in 20 minutes
11-681-How-to-defrost-an-RV-fridge-water-dripping-from-refrigerator-vent-on-outside-of-trailer-1
(March 21, 2016) - Defrosting an RV refrigerator is a surprisingly easy job. We've been living with a propane RV refrigerator for many years now, and they always need defrosting after a few weeks or months.
We're The Russos: How to dump RV tanks
SAMSUNG CSC
(March 21, 2016) - For first time RVers, the idea of dumping can seem like a daunting and perhaps even disgusting task. When you're used to flushing everything down the toilet never to be seen again, like we were, it's hard to imagine coming face to face with that waste a week later - and the internet is no help.
Seeing the USA: SKP Resort
DSC_0040-001
(March 23, 2016) - We drove to SKP - Resort today with some preconceived ideas. We had been told it was more expensive than most, that it had an 8 year waiting list and recently had been told the residents were a "closed group".
Cheap RV Living: Dispersed camping at Leadville, Colo.
work-elbert-wide.CR2_-1
(March 21, 2016) - We'd been at Steamboat Springs, Colo., for about a month and really enjoyed it, but because it was at 9600 feet we could already feel a chill in the air as fall crept up on the high-country. After a summer of constant travel I had enjoyed staying in one place for so long, but even I was starting to get itchy feet, so it was time to move on. But where to?
Roaming Free: Arriving on Florida's forgotten coast
IMG_3777_thumb[2]
(March 23, 2016) - When we left Adel on Wednesday, instead of continuing north, we headed back south. Yeah, it's just mid-March, still a little too early to go back to Michigan!
Roadtreking: Another fulltime RV season begins
sandhill3
(March 24, 2016) - I've packed up, I have said my goodbyes to my family, and I have tidied up the loose ends of projects I've been working on, both of my Roadtrek and on other vehicles. I mowed my sister's grass for the last time this year. No more pushing a lawnmower and wondering if the mailman has come. No more mail service. I'm on the road.
